Environmental PORTRAIT Photography - A good portrait reveals elements of the subject's personality, attitude, unique mannerisms or a significant part of the subject's character. I find that when I photograph people in their natural habitat they tend to be more at ease and reveal themselves to the camera in a genuine and authentic manner. We all reveal our feelings and attitudes differently. Some show our character with immediate transparency, while others are more guarded at first. The top portrait photographers become proficient at studying people who they do not know in order to capture their essence, watching for signals in a subject's mannerism, reactions, expressions, body language, and how best to capture the subject's character.
