Non-Certified Counselling

Hey! My name is Joey. I am 30 years old and I am on a mission to be a welcoming support system to individuals in need. I am not a certified counsellor; however, I have a very well-rounded foundation as a result of my life experience which has blessed me with the ability to have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to be a good leader and teacher. These are gifts I am grateful to have. My partner of 5 years is fully certified in mental health and addictions worker and so I have been able to see more of the formal side of things as well. I have also studied how many of the regulatory bodies operate through their policy and understand the importance of the integrity in this field. Finding the right counsellor can be extremely challenging due to compatibility, wait lists, and/or expensive costs ranging from $100-$200/hr. I will offer services via zoom or phone call. My goal is to make the experience as affordable, comfortable, and professional as possible. I believe being honest and having high integrity is necessary to building the trust. I know it’s very important to find the right counsellor and therefore I would offer a free 20-minute consultation to ensure that the compatibility is what you’re looking for. Rates ranging from $25/30 min session and $40/60 min session. Since I am noncertified similar to a non-registered massage therapist, insurance companies will not cover the cost. I have practiced this with friends and family until now. I’m very understanding of many other topics and factors, but I can ensure I will never give advice on something I don’t know. It’s extremely important for me to be honest and if I don’t have an answer, I will do everything I can to find one or steer you in the right direction. I know it can be intimidating making yourself vulnerable and asking for help, but I want this to be as safe, non-biased, non-judgemental, and open for you as possible.
