Farmers Market Sales Representative ($18/hr)

Gobind Farms has been providing fresh local produce to the communities of South Vancouver Island since 1980. We are looking to build a team of enthusiastic, reliable sales representatives that can represent us at the various Farmers’ Markets for the duration of the 2022 growing season. If you enjoy the bustle of markets, working outside, meeting new people in your community, and are passionate about local farming we’d love to hear from you. Sales Representative Job Responsibilities: • Establishes a relationship with market managers and other staff. • Arrives as per schedule and sets up marketing and booth materials as appropriate. • Arranges for or transports product from the farm to the market location. • Arranges product displays for the purpose of sale. • Acts as a farm ambassador and endorses product; communicates knowledgeably and honestly with customers. • Calculates amounts owing based on customer product purchases. • Accepts cash or electronic payments from customers; makes change where appropriate, and manages a float to facilitate transactions. • Monitors inventory levels of product and float, and maintains communication with farm staff to procure additional inventory, float top-ups or support as required. • Returns booth to the state it was found upon completion of the market. • Accounts for product volumes sold and reports this to management. • Responsibly and honestly oversees the return of marketing materials, sale proceeds and unsold inventory. • Provides feedback and makes suggestions on how to improve operations. Sales Representative Qualifications/Skills: • Class 5 driver’s license • Previous customer service experience • Positive attitude and outgoing personality • Passion for local produce, farming and community Preference may be give to those with: • Experience with booths and markets • Knowledge of agricultural industry A criminal record check and professional or references will be required from the successful candidate(s).
