Restaurant Manager - Toptable

Position: Restaurant Manager Reports to: Restaurant Director Toptable Group is one of the most highly respected hospitality groups in Canada, encompassing some of the leading restaurants in Vancouver and Whistler. Continuing to evolve in the pursuit of excellence, each venue has received significant critical acclaim, both locally and internationally. Under the direction of Executive Chef Kristian Eligh, Toptable Group’s newest restaurant will open in Victoria, British Columbia in 2022. Promising to deliver a seasonally-changing menu rooted in only the freshest coastal cuisine, the upscale restaurant will be an approachable full service dining experience celebrating global flavours with local seafood and farm-fresh ingredients plucked right from its location with a purpose of creating an unforgettable hospitality experience. We are now seeking a true premium restaurant professional to lead the front of house operations for our new venue. POSITION SUMMARY: The Restaurant Manager will inspire, develop, oversee, and manage the front-of-house team, while working closely with the leadership team to support the creation and delivery of a unique and elevated guest experience that is in harmony with the kitchen’s food program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned as required) Serve as an educator, as well as an inspirational, committed, and responsible leader to the restaurant’s front-of-house team Assist with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the restaurant Maintain exceptional standards of professionalism and hospitality Lead by example, inspiring staff to deliver a memorable food and beverage experience Display a genuine passion to facilitate and exceed guest service expectations Ensure the delivery of superior customer service through effective staff training and education Actively participate in the mentorship and support of all team members Develop a strong and positive rapport with both staff and guests alike Drive positive results that align with business goals Under the direction of the Restaurant Director, initiate and execute special projects as required REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 3 years’ experience leading a premium food and beverage operation University degree in a related field or a combination of education and experience Strong knowledge of wines with level 2 WSET accreditation Experience training and managing a large and varied staff Strong business acumen with a proven ability to provide insightful industry leading, best-in-class outcomes to perpetuate growth in a premium service environment Highly committed to a premium level of quality and creating the ultimate guest experience Skilled at developing and creating food and beverage experiences that drive customer satisfaction and loyalty Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze current business problems and implement recommended solutions Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written Superior conflict resolution skills, with the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, clientele, suppliers, and partners Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks Comfortable with dealing with media, public speaking, and VIP guests Excellent knowledge of wine and spirits; a professionally recognized wine and/or spirits certificate is an asset Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays This position will remain open until filled.
