Lead (Senior) Technician - Victoria Auto Service Centre Summary: The Lead Technician is responsible for assuming a senior technical role within the location. This position is also responsible for the technical training and skill upgrading of team members such as apprentices and lube technicians. The Lead Technician is also responsible for the overall quality of repair work provided to our customers and the efficiency and productivity of the work shop. The Lead Technician will also ensure compliance of all policies/procedures set forth by BCAA. The Lead Technician will act as an ambassador for a safe work environment by ensuring all technical and non-technical team members are following the 5 Safety Behaviours outlined by BCAA. As a Red Seal, the Lead Technician will also be responsible for the successful completion of each work order assigned to them and all other repair related issues while ensuring member/customer satisfaction. The Red Seal Automotive Technician is also responsible for the continuous improvement of their quality of work including their customer handling skills. Key Responsibilities: Operations: Maintain a high level of member/customer service at the facility leading to a high level of “measured” member/customer satisfaction Achieve and continuously improve the location(s) KPIs outlined by BCAA Work collaboratively with the Service Manager to develop, manage, provide counter measures and be accountable for the location’s operating plan to achieve monthly and annual labor sales targets Ensure all team members comply with policies and procedures at all times Ensure all team members are in compliance with “the 5 safety behaviors” Ensure all team members are always working safely Ensure that all shop equipment is in proper and safe working condition Perform all monthly hoist inspections and equipment inspections Obtain qualifications and perform the duties of 1st Aid Attendant and Safety Committee Rep Maintain an overall safe work environment for all team members and ensure compliance with Worksafe BC standards. Alert Management of any unsafe conditions immediately Assist the Service Manager at properly assigning and ensuring completion of services and/or repairs for which the Technician(s) are competent at performing Assist and mentor Apprentices / Lube Technicians, as needed, with difficult diagnosis and ensure that repair is proper and complete. Assist all other Technicians in the shop as needed Oversee all comeback/recheck work for proper repair Communicate regularly with Service Advisors and Service Manager regarding any changes in work schedule or deadlines Properly complete the services and/or repairs with high quality in a timely manner to help deliver exceptional customer service Achieve technician productivity targets and customer satisfaction on an ongoing basis Ensure compliance with all environmental requirements and BCAA programs that meet or exceed governmental required standards Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Complete training as assigned by BCAA Participate in technical training as required Ongoing review of available industry technical information to keep current of advances in technology Other duties assigned as operationally necessary. Relationships: Reports to: Service Manager, Automotive Reporting Team: N/A External: Suppliers, AARS business partners, CAA and AAA Other: Senior Management, Location Team Members, ERS, People & Development and other internal team members Qualifications: Education: Automotive Red Seal Certificate. Current and up-to-date training of automotive technologies, with a focus on OBD-II courses. Experience: 5 years of experience as Journey Person Technician. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 70lbs, bend, reach, walk and stand for long periods of time Other Skills: Proven interpersonal ability and communication skills with Members/Customers, internal team members, and suppliers Ability to professionally represent the BCAA brand to all stakeholders Ability to train and mentor other technicians Highly motivated to provide exceptional Member/customer experience Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment and meet tight timelines Ability to work varied hours including evenings and weekends Proven analytical, problem solving, trouble shooting and decision making skills Demonstrated Software Skills: MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; and Automotive DMS systems and modern scan tools Proven track record of continuous improvement mindset Clean BC Driver License Class 5 or better Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: $67,500.00-$85,000.00 per year
