When was the last time your horse was on a trailer? Did you have difficulties loading? This is a common issue, but it's one that can be easily avoided. It makes sense for a horse to be reluctant to go into a small confined space like a trailer. Horses are prey animals, and they know that their first concern is to avoid being eaten. Small confined spaces are a trap; horses like to be able to see what's going on around them. It's really your horse's good sense that says "don't go in there". Trailering is one of the things we want our horses to do that go against their nature. Trailering frequently occurs in a stressful or time sensitive situation. We need to get to the show grounds. The hauler is here and waiting. We're moving to a new barn. Don't wait for the big day and hope everything will go perfectly. My method ensures that when the day arrives, your horse will step into the trailer calmly and confidently. I'll teach you and your horse in a progressive manner, using techniques that make sense to you and your horse. You'll see progress from the very first session. At the end, you will lead you horse on a loose rope to the trailer, and he will step up into it calmly and confidently. There are some things we will NOT use: * Stud chains. They inflict pain and are always unnecessary. * Bum ropes. Do people really think this is a good idea? * Carrots, grain, hay, or other foods or treats. A scared or worried horse isn't interested in eating. * Tranquilizers or sedatives. Drugs are not the answer. Let's talk about how I can help you and your horse. Every horse is different, and some take longer to learn than others. But you'll see a difference after your first session, or there's no charge. I specialize in solving horse problems and problems owners have with their horses. I have many years of experience training and rehabilitating abused, untrained, aggressive, spooky, and unsociable horses including those that no one else is able or willing to deal with. My approach to getting an unridden horse to its first ride and beyond is simple and trouble free. I have room at my facility for short and long term boarding and training programs.
