Before and After School Leader

Do you have at least 20 hours of course-work related to children (child development, psychology, child and youth care), and your CPR/First Aid Certificate? This position is for you! JOB DESCRIPTION Reporting directly to the Team Lead and Childcare Manager of the Victoria West Community Association, the Out of School Care Leader will be responsible for planning and implementing relevant activities for the Out of School Care program at Victoria West Elementary School and/or Victoria West Community Centre site. Rate of Pay: $19.00 per hour, plus 4% in lieu of vacation. Start Date: ASAP. Completion Date: June 29, 2023. Hours of Work: 7:00am-9:00am, and/or 2:15-5:30pm Monday-Friday. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Previous experience working with children in a child care or recreation-based setting is an asset but willing to train. Ability to follow instructions and willingness to assume and carry out assigned tasks. Ability to appreciate diversity, different opinions, lived experiences, backgrounds, and personality types. Dependable, including the ability to maintain good attendance, be reliable and punctual. Ability to understand and apply current child development and child care philosophy. Ability to maintain a high degree of enthusiasm, imagination and personal motivation. Understanding and ability to apply first aid and emergency response Excellent interpersonal skills and positive customer service skills REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION *Standard First Aid and CPR *Clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector search *Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care (Preferred) Or- Have completed a course or combination of courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition. (Responsible Adult Certification).
