When: Saturdays from 3:30pm to 5:30pm Where: Juan de Fuca Arena - Colwood, BC Description: This fun and inclusive sport allows participants of all abilities and experience levels to participate in skill-based hockey sessions. Sessions are run on a drop-in basis and include a mix of drills and games that cater to the skill level of the players on hand. Players include a range of ages (from 7 to 50+), abilities, and experience levels. Sessions run weekly and can range in participant numbers from 6-20+, depending on the day. Responsibilities: * Assisting with gameday setup and cleanup. * Welcoming players and helping them with sledge setup and protective gear * Assisting players of all abilities with transitions in and out of sledges as required. * Helping to organize and direct on-ice activities (warmups, drills, game setup, etc). * Occasional maintenance and upkeep of sledges. Volunteer Requirements * Consistent availability on Saturday afternoons while in season. * Personable, willing to learn, and respectful of the ability levels of others. * Background in hockey and/or adapted sport is helpful but not required. * First Aid and other related safety certifications are helpful but not required. No experience is required, and volunteers will be trained as needed. Sessions start on Sept 28th, 2019.
