$19 · Substance Management Youth Worker - On Call

TheYouth Worker you will work as part of a team in a community-based alternative-to-custody program for male adjudicated youth aged 13-18 years. This 6 month intensive intervention program is structured and substance-free. Key Duties and Responsibilities * Provide supervision and support for the youth that is normalizing, individualized and respectful * Assist the youth in dealing with acute physical and emotional withdrawal symptoms * Provide medication management according to Boys and Girls Club of Greater Victoria policy * Support the youth in following their individualized short term goals * Facilitate youth engagement in the daily programming activities and provide recreational activities as appropriate * Teach life skills such as budgeting, grocery shopping, cooking & problem solving * Support youth to develop healthy relationships, positive peer interactions, coping skills, improved communication & prosocial skills * Maintain required documentation in accordance with accreditation standards Qualifications and Requirements * Relevant post-secondary education in Criminal Justice, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Nursing or related Human Services Field * Experience effectively engaging vulnerable youth and their families * Demonstrated experience in delivering activity based programming * Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in group and1:1 setting * Demonstrated crisis counseling skills with vulnerable youth * Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team * Demonstrate reflective practice and critical thinking skills * Demonstrated competence working with computer data base systems * Experience in medication management * Current First Aid/CPR-C certification * Food Safe certification * Clean and valid Class 5 driver's license, driver's abstract and reliable transportation * Must be able to work flexible shifts including evenings, overnights and weekends Terms of Employment * Wage: $19.48/hour (8am-12am); $19.45hour (12am-8am); $14.86/hour (9pm-9am) * Hours: up to 40h/week * Work Schedule: Shift flexibility * Location: Greater Victoria
