Porter’s Wood Furniture is looking for a delivery assistant (swamper) to join our team. We are looking for a hard-working, reliable candidate who can work on a part-time schedule (1–2 days per week, including weekends).
The Delivery Assistant is an integral part of our team, responsible for assisting with delivering and assembling wood furniture to our customers' homes in a timely and professional manner. In this role, you will help the delivery driver safely transport our products from our store or storage facility to our customers' homes while providing superb customer service and assembling products as required.
Physically load and unload packaged furniture (both assembled and disassembled) safely and efficiently to and from 1-ton truck
Provide safe delivery of our products into the customer's home
Act as a positive representative of Porter’s Furniture
Effectively work as a team with a delivery driver ensuring safe delivery, loading, and assembling
Unload and organize in-store deliveries from our manufacturers
Assist with assembling furniture on-site in customers' homes
Use moving tools and supplies including plastic wrap, blanket pads, straps and dollies
Observe safe work procedures
Skills & Requirements:
Ability to lift at least 80lbs solo and 200lbs with a helper
Ability to establish effective professional relationships with customers and co-workers
Experience with physical work
Punctual, hardworking and reliable team player with a great attitude
Experience with furniture assembly would be an asset
Experience moving furniture would be an asset
