$150 · Honderich Cedar Chest

This is a finely crafted Honderich Furniture Co. cedar lined chest. It has been sanded and is ready to be stained or painted. The chest is 44" long, 19 3/4" wide, and it stands 25 1/2" high. The interior is 12" deep, 40" long, and 16" wide and of course is cedar lined. Here is the description and pricing from an accredited appraisal. "The Red Seal Cedar chest would have been produced by the Honderich Furniture Company in Milverton, Ontario circa 1930's. The piece itself is composed of an exterior walnut with an interior cedar. In excellent condition a Red Seal Cedar Chest would have a current retail antique shop value of between 350-400CAD. Back then the chests were used primarily as hope chests for young girls, but over time they became mostly blanket chests and are now even used as coffee tables. We are pricing this chest well below the appraised price as it needs to be refinished as per above. We are firm at this price.
