Vancouver Island Autistic Homes Society (VIAH) is currently seeking Home Share Providers to share their homes with individuals who have mild to moderate developmental disabilities. Home Share Providers assist individuals with life skills, meal preparation, relationship building, personal care and community access, giving them the opportunity to establish natural relationships and social connections within their community. Each home sharing arrangement is unique, depending on the circumstances, requirements and lifestyle preferences of the individual, who might live with a family, roommate, or couple, or in their own suite within a family home. As care givers support daily living routines and help manage transitions, they must be organized and adaptable, communicate well, have a sense of humor, be good problem solvers, and respect and celebrate diversity. They are expected to have previous experience supporting adults with a developmental disability.
