Hillcrest Elem Out of School Care is seeking a Supported Child Development (SCD) Worker for our Before and After School Care Program. This position is a part time for five day days per week: Mon-Fri from 7:00-8:45am and 2:00-5:30pm. Wage will be $17.00-$19.50/hour dependant on experience. Contract will be from September 3rd, 2019- June 26th, 2020. This position provides support to a student in our Before and After School Care program. The SCD Worker provides support for a children with special needs to include them in our Out of School Care programs. Staff will work both directly and through collaboration within a staff team, and in accordance with the society's plans and policies, and within the requirements of governing agencies. The purpose of this role is to provide the extra staffing support to a child with support needs to fully participate. The worker exists as a regular leader in the room, unless needed by the child specifically. Our ideal candidate has experience working in an Out of School Care, a strong background in Supported Child Development, and extensive experience supporting children with behavioural challenges and autism. The candidate is a positive, enthusiastic child care provider, professional, able to offer creative programming, has excellent communication skills, and is both child and family focused. We are seeking a team player who are safety conscious and able to work independently with children as well. The school we operate in, Hillcrest Elementary, is closed to students until August 26th, 2019. Interviews will be held at Hillcrest if custodial staff are present and the building is unlocked. If Hillcrest is closed then interviews will be held in a public place, such as a local coffee shop.
