The Walk Committee is responsible to successfully planning and leading the MS Walk event in their community. These opportunities are ideal for individuals looking to make a more substantial volunteer time commitment and who wish to enhance or share existing expertise in event or project coordination and leadership. Contributing your time and talents to the MS Walk committee is a meaningful opportunity to give back to your community and those affected by MS, while meeting great people and having fun. MS Walks are our larges fundraising event across Canada and wouldn't be possible without dedicated volunteers. The position description for the Food Coordinator is defined below. Responsibilities: Solicit and pick up food donations for the food tent and rest stops as required Review food tent and rest stop equipment requirements with the site coordinator Set up food service area on event day and provide direction to food tent event volunteers Clean-up and take down the food tent at the conclusion of the event All committee members share in the responsibility of: Championing the Walk in their community by promoting the event within their personal and professional networks and recruiting participants and event day volunteers Helping to source sponsorship (cash and in-kind donations) and prizing Skills, Attitudes, Knowledge Required: Experience in the respective roles' area of work is valued Strong leadership, communication, organizational and customer service skills Self motivated/directed and able to fulfill duties on time Training and Orientation: Role specific training will be provided for all committee members Tools, resources and information on all aspects of the event will be provided Time Commitment: Attend 1.5hr monthly committee meetings prior to the event from December through June Onsite for the event weekend, providing leadership to event day volunteers and overseeing specific area of work Meetings and work related to your role encompasses approximately 5-10 hours/month depending on role and size of event.
