Eevee - German Shepherd Dog

Shelter: BC SPCA - Victoria Animal ID: 484695 Birthdate: April 08, 2011 - Senior Spayed/Neutered: No Female Say hello to Eevee! Eevee is one of the German Shepherds that recently came into care. These dogs had a rough start to life and have little experience beyond living in a crate. Due to their challenging up bringing these dogs will need very special homes with some very special people. These dogs have no experience around urban city life and thus will need to live in homes that are away from busy downtown areas and have access to a secure yard. A yard will allow them to work on leash skills while being exposed to the outdoors in a positive controlled way. These dogs will need lots of positive reinforcement training ideally with the oversight of a force free trainer to keep them on track in their socialization. Their perfect home would have low foot traffic, few visitors, and be a stand alone dwelling (no shared hallways). These shepherds are not ideal to live with young children and have limited social skills with other animals. These dogs do not have the best genetics and may be more prone to health issues that are common in shepherds, please do some research so you are fully aware of breed related health problems that may occur. These dogs are likely to have chronic joint issues so take your medical budget into consideration when applying for the shepherds. Eevee is quite a bit older then the other dogs received from this household, because of this she tends to be more of a wall flower, happy to watch things pass by from her comfy bed. Eevee is looking for a nice warm home where she can spend her final days getting to be a regular dog, learning how to play with toys and enjoying tasty treats. A guardian interested in these dogs will need to submit an application as well as a short paragraph on your German shepherd experience, training methods, and how you plan to integrate these dogs into your home. Please be aware that these dogs are not currently viewable in our shelter and will need time to adapt and progress their social skills before any potential meet & greets can be organized.
