$100 · Downloading a Vehicle's Event Data Recorder

Event Data Recorder (EDR) downloading is now available to the Canadian public for the very first time, here on the South Island! Here are just some common situations in which it could be very helpful to have the data in your vehicle's computer downloaded: * Thinking of purchasing a used vehicle, would like to know if it has been in a collision? * Having been involved in a collision, and your interpretation of what happened is in dispute. * You have a personal injury claim and your case would be bolstered if could get the data out of the vehicle's computer. * You have been injured and there is minimal damage to your vehicle. The insurer states there is a minimal chance you could have been injured because of the negligible damage to the vehicle. Note, not all vehicles have an EDR in them. Examples are Dodge only started including them in 2007, Mazda in 2008, General Motors has had them since 1995, etc.. Also, he is certified to download the data and interpret the subsequent reports generated from the download. Dr. McDiarmid's fee is $200 per vehicle and his office is located just outside Victoria, in Langford (two blocks from the Leigh Road Exit 16 off-ramp). It takes 20-30 to perform a download. There is no substitute for the objective evidence of hard data when at the end of the day all you have up to this point is 'he said-she said'.
