Custodian/Housekeeper - Casual/On-Call - $19.50/hour

Under general direction, you will provide custodial services for University facilities, providing regular cleaning, custodial maintenance and sanitation of common areas of residences, rooms and buildings, cafeteria and gymnasium including the interior building surfaces, fixtures, furnishings and fittings contained within these facilities. You will provide heavier cleaning and sanitation of resident dorms when not occupied or on request (e.g. floors, walls, fabrics). Job Requirements: * Grade 12 certificate from a secondary school, or equivalent * One (1) year experience performing related duties in an institutional environment and completion of a recognized Custodial certificate course, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience * Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license in the province of BC * Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs * Ability to perform repetitive tasks: physically demanding, bending, crouching, kneeling, weight handling * Ability to engage in walking, standing, lifting, carrying, and climbing for prolonged periods of time * Demonstrated ability to operate machinery needed to perform custodial and housekeeping tasks (vacuums, scrubbing machines, speed buffers, burnishers, rug cleaners) * Experience using cleaning equipment such as brooms, mops, plungers, buckets, pails, carts and common cleaning tools needed for routine tasks * Ability to climb ladders and be comfortable working at heights * Ability to handle chemicals and corrosive materials in a safe, efficient and effective manner according to WorkSafeBC Regulations * Work independently and as part of a team * Communicate effectively with internal and external clients * General knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in the work performed To view the complete job posting and to apply for this position please visit our website: https://royalroads.mua.hrdepartment.com/hr/ats/Posting/view/390 If you are experiencing issues with the application please email us using the address provided.
