Bookkeeper - Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival

The Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival requires a part-time Bookkeeping Contractor to take over the day-to-day accounting and financial statement production of our organization. Typical time commitment will be 4-8 hours per month which may increase to 8-12 hours for one to two months following Festival in early May annually. Compensation to be negotiated. Duties and Responsibilities * Posting transaction details * Entering financial transactions in databases * Creating and producing financial statements and reports, including trial balances, adjusting entries, both monthly and year-end * Managing payroll (including YE reports, T4's etc), payables & receivables * Reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts and bank statements. * Interacting with External Auditors to produce year-end statements * Ensures organization complies with all regulatory reporting and requirements. * Notifying senior staff or Board of accounting errors or issues * Reports to Office Administrator and through her to the Board of Directors Skills and qualifications * Attention to detail and accuracy * Able to multi-task, prioritize, work under pressure and meet deadlines * Ability to communicate complex data clearly * Excellent data entry skills * Great interpersonal and customer service skills * Familiarity with a wide range of financial transactions including Budgets, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, deferred revenue accounting and fund accounting * Proficiency with Sage Accounting Software Education, Training & Experience * Minimum CMA, CGA, CPA or recognized Diploma in Bookkeeping * Experience as a Bookkeeping contractor with NFP and/or charitable organizations. * Must be able to produce minimum 3 references at least two of which are from NFP organizations
