Metchosin Aquaponics Ltd. is a small family operated business focused on developing an economically viable and sustainable business. We are offering an Aquaponic Greenhouse Manager internship opportunity, ideally starting on January 31st 2019. This is a 6-month internship opportunity with the intention of developing into a business partnership. This opportunity is supported by Career Launcher's Cleantech Internship Program. Please, ensure that you are eligible for this internship program before applying. (under 30 year old with a post-secondary diploma or degree). As the Aquaponic Greenhouse Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of the overall greenhouse activities of our aquaponic business including the following activities: OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES - Working according to the Aquaponic Best Practices Guidelines - Seeding, planting and harvesting of vegetable greens and plants according to market opportunities - Pest and disease control - Performing fish husbandry. This includes feeding, breeding and harvesting - Growing and preparing sustainable fish feed (vermiculture and fodder) - Water quality and nutrient management - Performing recycling operations as required, including waste vegetable oil and organic wastes PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION - Supporting the financial and administrative duties of the business as required - Managing seeding, planting, harvesting and delivery schedules according to market potential - Keeping detailed records of all related data and and analyzing that data to determine appropriate actions MARKETING - Developing customer relationship - Delivering fish and plant products - Exploring new market opportunities - Invoicing customers and maintaining records APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS - be eligible for the Career Launcher's Cleantech Internship Program including a post-secondary diploma or degree. - possess a valid BC driver's license - be computer literate.
