Antique 16 Century Chinese Swatow ware. Purchased from a Chinese estate. Believed to be 16 Century because of the clay used in the Ming period had a high Iron impurity, causes the unglazed part of the porcelain to turn a rusty iron colour when fired. The Iron in the clay also gives the old Blue Colbalt pigment a warn tone. The glaze on this piece is glossy and smooth to the touch, also showing when it was fired. There is some crazing, understandable amount for the age. 9 1/2 inches wide, 2 inches high. $275.00 OBO If you would like more photos let me know.
