Great for short hikes. Not sure on the volume, but you can safely hold a jacket and some snacks in the main zippered compartment, a couple of water bottles in the pockets on either side, and your wallet, keys & phone in the zippered outside pocket. Adjustable shoulder, waist and sternum straps.
