$950 · Looking for a sublet in a small basement suite

Looking for a sublet in a small basement suite Rent is 950 a month, includes wifi, but utilities are not included (50-100$ a month usually). Available Jan 1 2026 I'm looking for a new roommate for my basement suite, as my current roommate is moving out. The vacancy month to month, but I'm hoping for someone who'd like to stay awhile. The suite is located near Hillside mall (around 15-20 minute walk) and the royal jubilee hospital (about a 10 minute walk) in the quaint Haultain street neighborhood. The suite is close to several bus routes, the closest being the 27/28/22 stop. It is a short walk to a 14 stop, and is quite close to the Camosun Lansdowne campus (10-15 mins bus ride and walk). We share garbage and recycling with the landlords (neighbors) and our upstairs neighbors. The suite has a large bathtub, a large back room with in-suite laundry. The room itself is not huge and doesn’t have a closet (my current roommate has offered to leave the clothing rack if the new roommate needs it) but does have 2 windows, and would be unfurnished. It is a pet friendly suite, but I already have two cats, a mouse, fish tanks and a pac-man frog as Pets. Any additional pets will be considered on a case by case basis, as my cats can be temperamental and may not get along great with all other pets, cats and dogs mainly, unless your cat can live exclusively in your room. The space is not suitable for a dog. Small animals in cages and tanks are likely not a problem, as long as they can fit in your room. If you like plants, I do have a multitude of houseplants, which some people appreciate for the life it brings to the household. Recycling and composting are priorities in this household, as we don’t have a ton of space for garbage. Apart from your room, the suite is fully furnished (in the common areas). The vacancy would begin January 1st 2026. Rent is $950 a month, which includes wifi, but not other utilities, which are split and are usually 50$ - 100$ a month, with higher bills during the winter. About me: I’m a 28 year old Victoria resident. I am a part time student at Camosun college, working through a biology program, and I work part time at the Canadian Tire hillside mall garden centre. I'm a Virgo, and I love to bake, spend time with my pets and plants, and knit, and I love to read as well. I appreciate the quiet, and don't often have company over, besides my boyfriend sometimes (although I don't mind if you'd like to invite people over! I'm just introverted), and I like to keep the suite as clean and tidy as I can, although I am flexible if we are busy and can't get to the chores as fast as usual. I do follow a weekly chore schedule which I would expect the new roommate to agree to and follow as well. I don’t drink alcohol but don't mind if others in the house do, as long as it’s in a healthy way and isn't super excessive, I am 420 friendly (we are able to smoke outside, and there are a few parks nearby at which I’ve been able to smoke occasionally). I'd also give preference to someone who would be comfortable watering the plants and feeding the animals (with written instructions provided) if I go away for a few days here and there (doesn't happen too often but I go to saltspring to see my family occasionally, particularly during the spring and summer months).
