Controller

Randstad is now looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Controller for our client in beautiful Victoria BC. This is an active role that will allow for growth for the right candidate. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller will be directly involved in the day to day finance operations as well as assessing and reporting on the company’s results. This job will hold the challenges of a dynamic accounting work environment that also offers opportunities to be involved in the assessment and reporting of retail and manufacturing operations. Opportunity: Full time, permanent Location: Victoria, BC Salary: up to 120 000, depending on experience Start: ASAP ADVANTAGES - Competitive salary - Reputable company - Benefits after 3 months - Growth opportunity - Fun & dynamic environment RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition • Claim accumulation and reporting for Tax return • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances • Timely monthly financial statements along with an analysis of key variances • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting • Research technical accounting issues for compliance • Effect month-end and year-end close processes • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting • Manage and comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls QUALIFICATIONS • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work independently. • Proven organizational skills • Proven team work approach and ability to coordinate and interact with diverse groups • Ability to execute introductions or changes to controls or processes. • High level knowledge and use of software programs such as Word and Excel is essential. • ERP experience preferred, or extensive experience in accounting software and management of same. • Knowledge of and experience with IFRS an asset. • Knowledge of and experience with SRED cost tracking/accumulation and claims an asset Requirements • Proven working experience as a Controller • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience • CPA, CGA or CMA designation • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures • Experience with creating financial statements • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close processes • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills SUMMARY If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you - please apply here today and one of our Staffing Consultants will be in touch.
