Music Lessons in Victoria BC

Hey everyone! My name is Nick Mintenko. I am a professional musician and teacher living in Victoria BC. Here is a list of some of my achievements! I have performed around 3000 concerts in Canada, The USA, and Europe. I received my diploma in Jazz Studies from the Victoria Conservatory of Music in 2013. I have been teaching private music lessons since 2012, and I have also taught at Larsen Music (now defunct) from 2012-2016, and South Island Studio from 2014-2016, and Tapestry Music from 2020-2023. I have recorded and released at least a dozen albums, both under my name and as a collaborator, in genres including Jazz, Rock, Folk, Song-Writer, Chamber, and more. I do not teach with a curriculum. Each lesson is tailored to meet your own specific goals after an assessment and conversation between us. I am happy working out of a workbook and seeing it to completion, or starting something new every week. There are so many different learning styles. Here are all the lessons that I can offer. Beginner Guitar/Ukulele - Songs, Chords, and Rhythm. Intermediate Guitar/Ukulele - Solos, Finger-picking, and New Chord Shapes. Beginner Electric Bass - Technique, Timing, and Common Patterns. Intermediate Electric Bass - Slapping, Soloing, and Complex Patterns. Beginner Double Bass - Technique, Intonation, Timing, and Common Patterns. Intermediate Double Bass - Bowing, and Soloing. Beginner Music Theory - Basic Scales and Chords, Key Signatures, and Reading music. Intermediate Music Theory - Modes and other Scales, Composition, Arranging, and Sight-reading. Beginner Singing - Singing In Tune, Ear Training, and Resonating Chambers. Songwriting - Lyrics, Theme, Counter Melody, Song Form, and Genre. Critique - I offer critiques on soloing, songwriting, and performance. - Take your live show to the next level! Advanced lessons are a jam and an exchange of ideas. I'm excited about these sessions! I am available for lessons immediately! I have some slots available Thursday and Friday after school, as well as slots in the afternoon on those days for people with unusual (or retirement) schedules.
