Mechanic for a fleet of pedicabs

Available immediately Thursdays through Saturday from approximately 6 pm thru to 11 30 pm. Sundays 4 pm to 9 30 pm For the right applicant, hours can be increased or adjusted. There are also some shifts available Mon and Weds. Light to medium duty, working autonomously. Primary Duties include: - Mobile repair or delivery of one of 2 spare pedicabs - Routine repair and maintenance of a fleet of 30 pedicabs - Wheel truing, spoke replacement and tube repair. - General make work assignments. Looking for applicant who is extremely reliable and can follow direction and be self-directed while trouble shooting solutions. Familiarity with bicycle repairs AND/OR a working knowledge of hydraulic brake systems, electric motors, differentials and axles and light wiring systems. Professional communication with our team of 40 pedicab operators and manager is a must. Our manager is always available to resolve issues related to another’s behaviour or work performance. Outside working conditions; workshop is at Ogden Point in a 20-foot sea container (the company has 11 containers in total) with a small overhead heater and outside awning. The workshop is well lit, has all necessary tools and equipment and an organized and well stocked parts inventory. The fleet has received its start of season tune up/repairs and is in a very good state of preparedness. Will be trained with aspects of our fleet which includes a standard mountain bike frame and assembly, a custom rear drive train, hydraulic brake and axle system and an electric assist motor systems. A manual guide is also available. We keep our spare parts inventory well stocked. The owner’s depth of knowledge on the cabs is always available during and after shifts. We strive to give a low stress environment and allow the mechanic the ability to own their position with slight guidance. Again, you always have the owner’s support for trouble shooting or repair direction. For the right candidate, this could be a position that could be held for many seasons (May thru Sept each year). There is some flexibility with the work schedule and hours can be added or subtracted slightly but we do expect dependability as the fleet relies on a quick response (be in a constant state of readiness) when a pedicab needs immediate assistance with guests on board. $30.50 per hour to start and a possible increase depending on experience and ability to be self-directed.
