Caregiver (Personal Support Worker) - SID01MBB

We are currently recruiting a permanent scent-free Personal Support Worker with care for a female senior client with MCS and ME needs who requires assistance with day-to-day house help and upkeep for two to four afternoons a week in her home. She lives by Lochside Drive near Sidney with her pet Guinea Pig. The ideal candidate is mature and reliable and has a respectful personality. Work activities are flexible and negotiable: a little personal care, light housekeeping, and companionship. Client may also ask for help with decision-making and answering phone calls and emails. The client is looking for a support staff who can adjust to client's scent free environment as the client has fragrance sensitivity. Client is willing to work with candidate in achieving this requirement as she understands that not everyone can adhere to a scent free environment. Please note, we are accepting the applications of those candidates only who are currently a resident of British Columbia. Shifts: Temporarily twice a day then will be permanent position - 10 hours/week 2-4 afternoons a week Start times negotiable Shifts will likely be three hours twice a week plus work from home may be negotiated. Total approximately 10 hours a week. Compensation: $28 per hour wage is negotiable, according to training, experience, interest, tasks desired Location: Sidney (Near Lochside Waterfront Park) Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to): Light housekeeping including dishes, changing bed sheets and laundry Taking care/feeding pet guinea pig Senior with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS) and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) needs; Assist with decision making and phone calls Clean air purifier Assist with little back massage Cut organic veggies and non-allergenic meal delivery Vehicle needed to drive/attend health care appointment Walking companion - walker is used Attendant driver to dentist. Required Qualifications: Familiar with clients who have Brain Injury, Chemical Sensitivity and Extreme Fatigue is an asset Caregiving experience is an asset Driver's license and a scent-free vehicle is required Candidate must be scent-free (uses natural scent-free laundry products) Someone who is quiet and understands interaction challenges Able to read task lists without lot of questions Must adhere to a fragrance-free environment Must be fully vaccinated Be able to communicate through email Individuals with disabilities can be more susceptible to the severe symptoms of COVID-19.
