KIT includes: - Nikon D90 Body - Nikon zoom lens: DX 16-85mm 1:3.5-5.6 VR - Nikon prime lens: DX 35mm 1:1.8 AFS (no VR) - 4 filters: A UV and a Circular Polariser for each lens - Cokin filter frame with neutral density gradient and warming filters - 2 lens hoods for the 2 lenses (The zoom lens hood is cracked and does not fit tightly, but it works.) - “Shoot” Remote Timer - Lowepro camera shoulder bag - Nikon Battery charger. - Extra Nikon Battery - User Manuals for the D90 and Remote Timer NIKON D90 The camera and zoom lens were recently professionally cleaned and the camera was checked out. It has seen little use in the last 6 years. It presently has 9,268 actuations. I have found this camera very reliable and easy to use. It has buttons for most settings without going into the menus. The camera can shoot in sequence and you can set it for “bracketing” those shots. The camera has both “Program” and “Auto” modes if you want the camera to take over the exposure and ISO settings for you. For me, I like to set my ISO based on the present lighting and then use the “Aperture Priority” mode to set my exposure by changing the aperture. The camera sets the shutter speed accordingly. This gives me quick control of the Depth of Field. I can tweak the exposure quickly using the “EV Compensation” button and turning the dial. The Vibration Reduction in the zoom lens works very well and I have used it hand-held down to around 1/20 second. The optical viewfinder is clear and bright with just enough information on its display and I can easily see the affect of the Polariser filter as I turn its ring. I like to use a good quality polarising filter for all shots outside. It does much more than darken the sky. I really like the handy small display on the top of the camera. The camera can shoot “raw” files, but I struggle in editing to get the same results as the good looking JPG files in terms of colour and contrast. There is significant JPG setting flexibility in the camera to get it to what I like. The sample photos provided are all JPGs right out of camera without any post-editing. Note: This is not a "full frame" camera, but has never bothered me - it does a great job. The sensor is smaller than the 35mm standard at a factor of 1:1.5. NIKOR DX 16-85mm 3.5-5.6 ZOOM LENS Equivalent 35mm range: 24-127mm. This high quality lens has a fairly wide zoom range that I have found perfect for landscape and general photography. It is wide-angle to a reasonably long telephoto. I have rarely wanted anything longer. It is pretty compact for that much range. This a popular and valuable lens and can be used on any Nikon DX camera when considering updating. NIKOR DX 35mm 1.8 PRIME LENS Equivalent 35mm range: 52mm I got this as a smaller “Nifty 50” fast lens to lighten the load and reduce the size for travel photography. Because of its wide aperture it makes for good isolation of the subject - like when shooting people. Note that this lens does not have Vibration Reduction but with the wider apertures you can shoot at faster shutter speeds. This has seen little use as the zoom lens did work well for me and I just didn’t like changing lens. “SHOOT” REMOTE TIMER This is not a particularly expensive accessory, but it has allowed for some fun night photography with the D90. You can use it as a “cable release” - holding the shutter open until you release it or you can time the exposure and set intervals between shots.
