Zephyr made by Portable Electric tool Company for USA/CAN and distributed by Perry Sales C - Chicago, IL. Estimate the drill is from 1948-1951 given some ads I found in Popular Mechanics (Sept 1949) from a google search. It has a universal motor and will run with AC or DC. Heavy duty 1/2 inch drill VERY powerful Model 510 4.5 amps AC/DC This belonged to my grandfather who used it briefly when new for a few years but otherwise wasn't used much in the past 70+ years. See comments for more pictures It is in perfect working order. I have used it to mix paint ( in 5 gal buckets) and mix a very dry mix of concrete in (5 gal bucket). It has incredible torque and nothing seems to bog it down. If you are looking for a vintage drill that was made to last a lifetime then this drill fits that requirement. Very high quality and craftsmanship were common in tools of this era. I am selling because I have another vintage drill (made by SIOX from the same time period) and only need 1 drill as I downsize. xposted on usedvic.
