Looking for a unique experience for a your young creative who is already hooked on sewing? You have found it. Fashion Camp. DATES: We run Fashion Camp during spring and summer. At each camp, there is the opportunity to learn about the design process, fashion illustration, cutting fabric from paper patterns and constructing garments. We will also cover finishing techniques including hemming, zippers, button holes and working with elastics. During the week we will make a top and a dress or skirt [there will be a choice of 3 patterns] and we will also look at making simple alterations and additions to existing clothing. Our fashion studio is chock-a-block with fabric, ribbons, trims and notions - a young designers paradise. Our camp instructors are eager to teach - all have experience working with young people, but equally as important, they have experience in the fashion industry as well - and each bring their own special talent to the mix. We have taught hundreds of kids to create, design and sew through our workshops, camps and Fashion Machine program. We can't wait to teach yours! Fashion Camps will be limited to a maximum of 8 students so there is plenty of one to one help. Fashion Camps geared towards ages 12-17. Participants must have basic sewing skills to attend. The includes being able to thread the sewing machine, sew straight lines & curves, back stitch [sewing backwards] and have completed several sewing projects either at home or in school. No previous experience sewing clothing is required, this is your chance to get started! Sewing equipment, patterns and certain materials are included in the cost, however you will need to purchase cotton fabrics for the clothing projects. We will be in touch at least two weeks before the camps begin to let you know how much fabric to buy for each project! If you already have a fabric stash at home, even better!
