1999 Honda Civic Ex. 4Dr, Silver, Automatic, 1.6L L4 SOHC. Looks good, runs decent and has been used as a daily driver up till now, but is due for rear breaks, timing belt service, and likely needs a new head gasket (see details below). Priced for a quick sale. Open to reasonable offers. The Bad: - Last summer it overheated occasionally during long drives in hot weather and I had to regularly top up the coolant despite no obvious coolant leaks. Hasn’t been an issue during city driving over the winter. During recent troubleshooting I found slow bubbling in the coolant when the engine comes up to temperature. I think when the engine is running hard air is forcing the coolant out the overflow which was causing the overheating. It's possible the water pump is leaking and sucking in air (waterpump is overdue for a change), but I suspect it's a head gasket leak. I don't have the skills/equipment to verify. Does not blow white exhaust and there was no coolant in the oil during the last oil change. - Overdue for a timing belt service (not currently an issue but it was suggested by a mechanic) - Due for new rear brake pads (front pads and rotors were just replaced) - Small slow oil leak (no puddles) - AC doesn't work - Once in a while it’ll idle a little rough for the first 1-2min after starting (starts every time) - Trunk occasionally leaks a small amount of water when there’s heavy rain (trunk carpet is currently removed but I have it) - Right rear power window sticks (I leave it up to avoid fighting with it) - One small rust point behind right rear door (see pic) - A few small scuffs and scratches here and there that are only noticeable from close up and paint is starting to peel in a couple places on the front bumper (see pics) The Good: - Starts and runs as-is. Was being used for daily driver around town until I bought a new vehicle. - Handles well and rides smooth - Body and interior are in good condition (other than a few minor scratches and one small rust point - see pics) - Good winter tires installed with lots of tread left - Spare set of steel rims - Good on gas - Factory alarm system and keyless entry (new power door locks installed last month) - New front brakes (pads and rotors were just replaced a couple months ago) - Recent oil change and new air filter installed It has a rebuilt status, but I don’t have details of what was damaged/fixed at the time. It had a rebuilt status when my parents originally bought it about 14 years ago. I bought it off them 8 years ago. The only accident since we’ve owned it was a damaged rear bumper from someone backing clipping the corner in a parking lot. Bumper cover was replaced under insurance but no other damage. It has a few quirks but it has been a great little commuter vehicle and would continue to be for someone willing to put some work into it (e.g. timing belt and possibly head gasket). Selling because I bought a larger vehicle for camping and can't keep two vehicles.
