Class 1 Driver PT & FT

Come join ColdStar for employment with a flexible schedule - working part-time. ColdStar is seeking a Class 1 driver to join the team! This position will work mornings (3:00 AM-8:30 AM - we are flexible, but it has to work with operational needs) . This is part-time, permanent, and based in Langford. This is a general freight position, shuttling trailers up and down the island, as well as local LTL deliveries. The successful candidate must work well independently, take direction well, and not be afraid to ask clarifying questions. Some flexibility for holiday coverage is appreciated. $1,000 signing bonus will be paid after 6 months (180 days). Responsibilities: General P&D activities such as: safe driving, hand bombing, related paperwork, & customer service Communicate effectively and respectfully with Dispatch and Customers Report all incidents and safety hazards in a timely manner to the supervisor or Dispatch Qualifications: Minimum 1 year of experience driving a 53 foot trailer & manual transmission is required Class 1 driver’s license and clean drivers abstract is required Knowledge of reefer settings and food temperature hauling requirements is an asset Experience using an power jacks, electric tailgates, and forklifts, an asset Physically able to lift 50lbs required Good knowledge of Vancouver Island is an asset Flexibility for scheduling is appreciated Benefits: Health, dental, vision RSP Matching Life insurance, critical illness, long-term disability, AD&D EAP & Wellness program Personal days off & birthday off Boot reimbursement, on-site parking, and more $1,000 signing bonus paid out after 180 days (6 months) *Shift start-times may change based on operational needs.
