POSITION SUMMARY To work in the kitchen at a housing project for individuals, including youth, who have been underserved in the community. Your primary role will be to prepare and serve nutritious meals for the residents in a casual capacity. This position works as a member of a staff team and works with at least one other person on each shift. • Develop creative ways of serving food in a non-institutional manner. • Oversee the kitchen climate and ensure that it is clean and orderly and well run. • Ensure all meals are served efficiently, hot and on time. • Serving healthy meals to the residents in the appropriately sized portions. • To ensure that all supplies are kept neatly stored and accounted for. • To keep all cooking spaces clean and well organized. • To clean and maintain all equipment in the kitchen. • Purchase necessary cleaning supplies. • Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are stored neatly in a systematic manner. • Maintain all storage areas. • Ability to communicate in an effective, efficient, and respectful manner. • Responsible for working as a member of a team and encouraging a climate of support, in order to create a healthy work environment. QUALIFICATIONS • Must have kitchen experience • Must be willing to get a Food Safe Certificate. • Must work well under stress. • Good listening ability, non-judgemental, patient, and non-controlling.
