They have a 300ft (about 100m) radius of their nest which they are able to pollinate. Mason bees are active from about March until early to mid June and are most effective at boosting your garden's number of flower blooms, fruit tree production, and early summer vegetables. They are also excellent for the environment in helping to strengthen ecosystems and restore bee populations, which are now endangered. Mason bees do not sting so they are completely safe around children and pets. While both males and females are particularly peaceful, males are especially docile and friendly. Nests can be kept in your yard or balcony and the bees will return to the tubes to rest and lay eggs. Cocoons can then be recovered for hatching next year if you choose.
