Beautiful tuneable bodhrán, handmade by well-known Alberta craftsman Dave Settles. Each Davey Drum is one of a kind, custom made to maximize the individual skin’s sound. Factory-made Waltons, Meinls, and Remos can be purchased for less, and they can look nice on your wall as a memento of your trip to Ireland. But if you want a drum for playing, you’ll want a handmade Davey Drum. The hand-cured goatskin is carefully stretched over a 16” x 5 ½” wooden frame, and Dave adds his signature to every drum by leaving a tuft of goat hair on the playing surface. This drum is ready to play! It is 9 years old and nicely played in. It is in excellent condition, has good attack, great tonal range, and deep bass sounds. The 6 tuning mechanisms do not require tools. Compared to the costs of other handmade Celtic instruments, such as fiddles, pipes, and mandolins, high quality bodhrans are highly affordable. And sessions will be starting again soon! Included are 2 tippers and one of Dave’s CDs —“Stretching the Goat.” Located in James Bay near the Breakwater.
