Have decided to finally sell my BMW. I’ve had the car for about 4 years and bought it with just over 300K and she has treated me great. As you can tell with over 400K these straight six engines are bulletproof and have won many awards due to their durability. The car runs GREAT, but does have some minor quirks- mostly trivial items that are easy to fix for someone willing to put the time in (not me lol) -Passenger front window is partially off its track making it slow and you need to manual adjust it for it to finish. I got sick of doing that so stopped rolling it down. Something is also wrong with the passenger door handle as the door can only be opened from inside and wont work from the outside. - Front right turn signal lens was broken/missing. Theres still a bulb there so theres still a signal so you wont get pulled over for it. These are only $15 at the auto wrecker and take a minute to fix. It was cracked from a rock chip like a couple days before I took it off the road in anticipation of getting me new vehicle. Car has airbag light in (not sure why). Original BMW rims with maybe only about 30% tread on tires. And finally, like I said the car runs and drives great. You will easily be able to slap some plates on it and drive it outta here but it does have a check engine light due to a minor vacuum leak. I have had it looked at by a mechanic who confirmed my suspicions- the brake booster diaphram is leaking air. This is a very common problem for these BMW’s with over 250K. This one lasted longer than most. You can hear a slight hiss from inside the vehicle coming straight from the brake booster. Hiss goes away when fully depressing brake so thats another tell tale sign. Used Brake booster they have one at Sandy’s in Langford for $100 and apparently its a 2.5 hour job so $400 to fix (parts and labour) from your mechanic or $110 if you do it yourself. Other then the brake booster there is nothing mechanically wrong with the car. It has tons of life left. The engine is very strong still. Also, aside from the slight hissing sound of the air leak the brakes are unaffected and work perfectly fine. You still get full brake boost. Pedal still gets hard when depressing with vehicle off and pedal still drops slightly like it should when you start the car. I do recommend getting the new brake booster soon thougb. Its probably not the best idea to drive it too long with it leaking but I was told from my mechanic you could probably drive it quite long as is before actually fixing it. Leather interior, tinted windows, air conditioning still blows nice and cold!
