Delivery Driver/ Community Associate

Victoria Women In Need Community Cooperative (WIN) is a non-profit community service cooperative that provides programs to support women, trans, non-binary, and Two-Spirit people along their journey between crisis, self-sufficiency, and wellness. We run 4 resale shop locations as well as an online shop to be able to support us in funding our programs and operations. The successful candidate will become part of a diverse team of dedicated people who work hard, are committed to a shared set of core values, and also enjoy their work. Type of Position: Full Time, 6am – 2pm, temporary position for three months or may be extended. Location: 555 Ardersier Rd. Victoria, BC Hours per week: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday) This is a hands-on position that has the following responsibilities: • Transports all inventory and other items between the warehouse, the stores and other locations in a timely and efficient manner • Plans the transportation of items according to location, and the appropriate loading and unloading of the truck, as well as ensuring items reach each location safely • Works with the Program Coordinator to deliver the New Start Program • Acts as liaison with donors and picks up donations of furniture and other items • Carries out repairs and maintenance as needed at all locations, as well as coordinate snow removal when needed • Communicates with Production and Retail Managers on an ongoing basis to ensure everyone is kept up to date with transportation schedule and changes • Works in collaboration with production team to ensure all recycling and transport between locations is completed in timely manner • Works in collaboration with retail teams to ensure all items are delivered on time to the appropriate areas, clearly organized and that all items are picked up regularly • Ensures that all storage spaces are kept well organized and • Assists in carrying heavy items including moving items from one area to another and assisting staff in production plus retail • Completes forms and reports as needed to monitor work • Provides ongoing information regarding transportation issues and truck operational issues to supervisor • Ensures ongoing maintenance of vehicles • Supervises Transportation Assistant when they are helping on the truck • Ensures safe operation of vehicle and complies with health and safety policies at all times Required Skills and Experience: • Excellent driver with Class 5 Drivers license and a clean driving record. Comfortable driving a 5 tonne truck. • Resourceful, positive attitude, and an excellent communicator • Able to closely adhere to health and safety procedures • Previous experience working in a customer service environment and/or a warehouse environment is preferred. • Strong leadership, and problem-solving abilities • Able to maintain confidentiality and ensures respectful communication with all members of the community at all times • Excellent customer service skills, able to answer questions in a friendly and positive manner • Keen interest in second-hand items and thrift • Knows about and values the work that WIN does in the community • Ability to work as a member of a team and to contribute to a positive, respectful and cooperative work environment • Able to maintain open communication with staff and volunteers. • Comfortable working outside in all weather • Able to work in a dusty environment, with repetitive motions related to receiving and carrying donations. • Able to lift and maneuver furniture inside homes, as well as use a dolly effectively • Successful completion of a security screening check WIN actively encourages applications from members of groups with historical and/or current barriers to equity, including, but not limited to, persons who identify as women, members of groups that commonly experience discrimination due to race, ancestry, color, religion, and/or spiritual beliefs or place of origin, Indigenous peoples, persons with visible and invisible disabilities, LGBQ+persons, Trans and gender variant persons and others with the skills and abilities and knowledge to engage productively with diverse communities.
