What is Cops for Cancer? The Cops For Cancer Program is one of the largest fundraisers of pediatric cancer research and Camp Goodtimes. Through this life-changing program, public servants commit to making a difference and supporting children and their families living with cancer. This unique and vibrant cycling tour invites childhood cancer survivors and their families to feel like they are part of the first responder community, creating life-long bonds between kids and first responder riders. As the Tour Specialist you will be responsible for forging these bonds, creating memories for kids, raising life-changing funds and planning one of the most impactful cycling events in Canada. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: - Supports the development and growth of a major annual campaign, Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock, by working closely with the Senior Manager, Cops for Cancer, the CCS Signature Programs team and First Responder agencies in the community. - Works directly with Tour Steering Committee to effectively implement and execute assigned Cops for Cancer event(s) of 14 days to meet or exceed revenue targets of $1 million+. - Drives year over year fundraising growth, with a goal of exceeding $1.5M in the next three – five years. Displays exceptional coordination, implementation and execution of all logistical and administrative tasks. - Acts as the relationship manager for assigned Cops for Cancer stakeholders to ensure alignment with the Cops for Cancer development plan including high ranking police officials, first responders, sponsors, principals and teachers - Actively responds and takes initiative on fundraising opportunities with volunteer organizing committees, sponsors, participants and donors ensuring appropriate cultivation. - Identifies and takes a leadership role in creative and innovative opportunities in the development or enhancement of existing Cops for Cancer planning initiatives, strategies and revenue development. - Participates in team initiatives to revise or enhance existing Cops for Cancer strategies or to implement new activities and to conduct regular evaluations of tour activities. - Acts as a leader on the team, supporting and developing team member in coordination with the Senior Manager - Uses data to drive decisions and always act within the best interest of the Canadian Cancer Society and those we serve. - Takes a donor centric approach to all fundraising activities and consistently delivers effective stewardship and engagement practices. - Represents CCS at Cops for Cancer events and on assigned tour(s). - Supports national program development by creating new tools and resources that will assist stakeholders from all 4 Tour pillars (first responder riders, schools, sponsors and community partners) with increased fundraising success. - Takes a lead role on complex, national program development projects that support the wider Cops for Cancer team - Reviews revenue reports on a regular basis ensuring that tour revenue targets are being met or exceeded. Reports material variances and proposes mitigation strategies. - Tracks and monitors expense budget for assigned tour(s) in conjunction with the Senior Manager, Cops for Cancer. Reports material variances and proposes mitigation strategies. - Maintains the integrity of the CRM by complying with policies and procedures for data collection and entry systems. - Actively solicits and secures new tour sponsors, schools and community events for assigned tour(s) in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. - Cultivates sponsorship revenue opportunities - Proactively identifies partnership opportunities to increase revenue within portfolio and beyond. - Actively contribute to our culture of justice, belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring that all staff feel represented and heard regardless of their gender, age, religion, ethnicity, and nationality or race. QUALIFICATIONS: - Post-secondary education such as acquiring a college diploma, as well as specialized technical/professional training and/or certification, or equivalent. - More than 3 years, up to and including 7 years - some practical or job-related experience. - Knowledge and understanding of special event fundraising as a component of an overall community giving program. - Exceptional project management, fundraising skills. - Experience with community giving fundraising strategies and integrated fundraising campaigns. - Experience working with demanding volunteer committees to deliver operational and revenue objectives. - Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail to deliver on a multi-faceted, highly strategic campaign - Experience with securing and fulfilling special event sponsorships. - Superior verbal and written communication skills and proven interpersonal skills, including presentation skills - Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and maturity in dealings with a variety of constituents.
