About the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul of Vancouver Island has been supporting people in need since 1916. Focused on impacting the lives of people affected by poverty, the Society offers emergency relief services while maintaining a focus and commitment to addressing the root causes that contribute to poverty in our communities. Through a variety of programs, the Society provides support through affordable housing, a food pantry, a home visit program, a day program for persons with developmental disabilities, and thrift stores providing clothing and household items to those in need. About the Role The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is offering a full-time opportunity for the role of Housing Support Services Coordinator. This role reports to the Housing Support Services Program Manager and works as part of a team of Coordinators to deliver support and services to residents. Duties include assisting residents in goal setting, connecting them to internal and external resources, and setting a long-term plan for a successful transition to permanent housing. The position will also work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain resources for participants and ensure that daycare and rental subsidies have been secured. The Support Services Coordinator will be responsible for co-creating a community model for participants and will attend community meetings, develop creative solutions to challenging participant situations, organize community events and provide de-escalation support to participants. What You Bring • Completion of a degree/diploma in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field • Minimum 3 years of experience working with vulnerable populations, including families • Previous experience working within a housing environment • Robust knowledge of local community resources and programs • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail • Experience writing reports and ensuring compliance with funding agreements • Crisis intervention skills with well-developed problem-solving abilities • Strong understanding of Ministry of Children and Family Development obligations, and an ability to work with Ministry workers • Successful completion of a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check What We Offer • Paid vacation and sick leave • Manulife Pension Plan • Medical Benefits • Employee Assistance Program • Professional Development Program Application Information: If this opportunity to work with a meaningful non-profit appeals to you, please view a full job description and apply with your resume and cover letter to: https://engagedhr.prevueaps.com/jobs/235600-33979.html This posting will remain open until filled, and we will be contacting qualified applicants as they are received.
