Our portfolio spans the entire province and involves property management, asset management, Assisted Living and providing professional consulting services to other service providers. Position Summary Under the Supervision of the Kitchen Supervisor, the Second Cook is responsible for the basic cooking, baking and preparation techniques of the kitchen operations of the Assisted Living Residence, referred to as “Jesken Aerie”. The successful candidate will work with the Kitchen Supervisor to provide high quality, low fat, low sugar, low salt meals and baked goods that are palatable and nutritious. The Second Cook will assist with food purchasing, food production and menu planning and be responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary working environment. The Second Cook will provide coverage for the Kitchen Supervisor as required. It is expected this role will represent MHS and embrace the vision to improve living conditions for Elders, seniors, people living with disabilities. This position is compensated at $24.41 an hour. This is a casual, on-call position that may be called for shifts from 10:15 am – 6:15 pm. Qualifications • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma • Post Secondary Culinary Certificate is preferred, Cook Red Seal Certification or equivalent is an asset • Minimum 5 years kitchen experience in a high volume facility or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience • Experience working in and with the Indigenous Community would be an asset • Courses required and paid for by M’akola: o Food Safe Level ll o Occupational First Aid Level l Certificate (updated every 3 years) o WHMIS and MSDS Certificate • Criminal Record Check Please submit your Resume and Cover Letter to https://makola.bamboohr.com/jobs/view.php?id=83 Closing Date: Until filled Only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
