Support Worker

The Sooke Transition House Society is looking for a Temporary Maternity leave position up to 1 year Support Worker. Transition House Workers are responsible for providing support to the residents of the Transition House.TH workers should posses strong crisis intervention skills, excellent inter-personal skills and a good record of contributing positivity in a team-based environment. TH workers assist in providing 24-hour access to shelter, food and supportive services to women and their dependent children who are at risk of abuse. Applicants must be able to work a 4 on 4 off rotation 4pm-12am and possibly a variety of shifts, including occasional day and overnight shifts if needed, weekends and statutory holidays. Required Education and Experience: Experience working in a Transition House an asset. Experience providing crisis intervention an asset. Satisfactory Criminal Record Check. Valid BC Drivers License and reliable vehicle. Valid First Aid Certificate Required Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates patience, passion, and enthusiasm. Effective active listening skills Ability to work with vulnerable people especially women and children fleeing domestic violence. Ability to provide crisis intervention.
