Treasure hunters rejoice! The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is back
Local home and building store re-opens its doors
Treasure hunters rejoice! The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is back image

On the hunt for gently used furniture, building supplies and other treasures? The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is here for you. Better yet, all proceeds from your purchase support local families in Victoria!

Since 1990 Habitat Victoria has brought communities together by building strong foundations for hard-working families. The Habitat ReStores located in Westshore and Saanich, near Uptown, were closed this spring to help keep you safe, but now they’re back with big changes in store.

  • Shop Online! In response to COVID-19, Habitat launched an e-store to let shoppers browse from the comfort of home. “We aren’t photographing every item so we won’t post a full inventory, but there’s a great selection which we update all the time. Larger pieces, things we have multiples of, and some of those interesting and unusual items,” says Jim Walker at the ReStore. Browse at habitatvictoria.com/estore
  • Free curbside pick-up: Have you spent the spring clearing out clutter? If you’ve generated a pile of materials that’s too large to bring to the ReStore yourself, take advantage of Habitat’s free pick-up service and book a truck today. “I would like to thank our donors for their patience as they hung on to their items while we were closed,” Walker says. Collection teams will wear suitable PPE at all times, and won’t be entering people’s homes. Call 250-386-7867 or visit habitatvictoria.com/donation-information to book a pick-up.
  • Modified store hours: ReStore Westshore and Uptown are open with reduced store hours. Stores are open to shoppers and accepting donations Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. “Customers will notice some changes as we take the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe; their patience and kindness is very much appreciated as we work to maintain appropriate physical distancing,” Walker says. The Tillicum ReStore will not be reopening. “This was an incredibly difficult decision for our charity, but amid the uncertainty of the impacts of the current health crisis, we opted to let our lease end,” says CEO Yolanda Meijer.

Visit ReStore Westshore at 849 Orono Ave., and ReStore Uptown in Saanich, at 3311 Oak St. Follow Habitat for Humanity Victoria on Facebook and Instagram for the latest information about store hours and services.

“It’s important that people touch base regularly. We’re doing the best we can to provide services under fluid circumstances,” Walker says.
