Heading to the mountain? Leave the driving to the pros!
Heading to the mountain? Leave the driving to the pros! image

Save money, save the stress and enjoy the trip!

Planning a trip to Mt. Washington but worried about the drive?

Whether you don’t have your own vehicle or simply want to leave the driving to someone else, the Mt. Washington Ski Bus has you covered!

“The Ski Bus allows you to simply get up and go, without worrying about driving all that way – including up the mountain – yourself,” says Travis Wilson, Manager of North Island Operations for Vancouver Island Coachlines and the Mt. Washington Ski Bus.

The bus runs daily right through April, including spring break, arriving at Mt. Washington at 8:45 a.m. for a full day of skiing, snowboarding or other winter fun. While walk-up seats are possible, the bus does fill up, so it’s best to book ahead, Wilson says.

In fact, more than 3,100 people hopped the Ski Bus last year … here’s why!

1.Save money: Starting at $50 return from Victoria ($55 ‘walk-up’ if you don’t book ahead online), you’ll save on the gas and the wear-and-tear on your wheels, not to mention the need to have snow tires and chains. But the Ski Bus lets you save even more! The newly launched Six Pack Bundle Deal saves you about 20 per cent on six trips throughout the season. You can also save by travelling on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which are typically quieter, Wilson says.

2. Stay safe & stress-free: The Mt. Washington Ski Bus is outfitted for winter and mountain travel, and their drivers are experienced at driving in winter conditions, Wilson notes. And with six Greater Victoria pick-up and drop-off locations on southern Vancouver Island – including a new pick-up location at the University of Victoria – and room to stow all your gear, skipping the drive is easier than ever. Additional pick-ups are possible from Mill Bay to Qualicum Beach, with reduced rates for up-Island departures.

3.Rest and relax: It goes without saying that by leaving the driving to someone else, YOU can beat those early-morning blues with a snooze on your way up. They’ll even stop at the Duncan McDonalds for breakfast, then you can relax until the driver drops you off at the top of the mountain! After a full day on the slopes, recuperate and relive the day’s adventures before arriving back in Victoria between 6:40 and 7:30 p.m.
