Do you have a guitar lying around that you've always wanted to learn how to play? Do you have a son or daughter that is really excited about wanting to play guitar? Are you retired and have always had that dream of wanting to play. You are not too young or too old to start. My name is Paul Delorme. I am an experienced guitar and music teacher living here in Victoria, BC. I am professionally certified to teach in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec. My music degree is from McGill University and my teaching degree is from Queens University. I have taught music professionally in the private & public school systems, both elementary and high school, for more than 25 years. My lessons are tailored to your wants and interests. Some aspiring guitarists just want to learn what is necessary to play their favorite songs while others also want to learn about reading music, scales, transposition, key signatures and technique. The choice is always yours. Of course, theory and technique are generally a lot more interesting when taught using the songs you want to play. Your lessons will be geared to what you want to learn. All ages are welcome! You can learn chords and how they're built, alternate chord shapes and positions, capot technique, rhythm, finger- picking, how to improvise, and how to tune. I usually teach in my home during the day. Parents are welcome to visit or stay with their child should they wish. The fee is $30 an hour, a little more if you want me to travel to where you live, which we can discuss. Discount packages are available for longer commitments. It is also possible to take a few lessons before you purchase an instrument. You can use one of mine. I can then give you some advice, if you wish, on what and where to buy.
