Classic Korean celadon Sang Kam (carve/glaze) technique, raised design with the attractive jade blue glaze that bestowed Goryeo (918-1392) celadon with a worldwide reputation. Stoneware or ceramic from rust brown color of base clay. Beautiful bamboo shoot-shaped celadon teapot with bamboo-shaped spout and lid. Sugar bowl with lid, five cups and five saucers. The sugar bowl and cups also have the bamboo shoot design. The matching saucers for the cups feature cranes and clouds. The floating cloud and freely flying crane designs representing eternity, combined with the color of autumn sky, gives the viewer the sensation of looking at a piece of heaven. Korean celadon pottery was well known throughout history, and cranes, which symbolize immortality, are the most famous design for Korean celadon. They are marked on the bottom with a square filled with feathers perhaps? and what looks like the word PEACOCK underneath.
