Dolby Brothers Roofing Shingler Position Job Description Tasks: • Install or replace asphalt shingles, metal panels, wood shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings • Measuring and calculating the materials needed for the roofing project. • Removing old or damaged shingles from existing roofs. • Installing new shingles in an overlapping pattern to ensure proper water drainage • Nailing or fastening shingles securely to the roof deck • Cutting shingles to fit around vents, chimneys, and other roof features • Applying sealants or adhesives as necessary to enhance water resistance • Inspecting and repairing damaged roof components • Experienced in hot work • Install, repair, or replace single ply roofing system using waterproof materials • Install sheet metal flashings Area of specialization • Shingled roofs •Metal panel install (Fastening metal seams, welding, bolting) • Skylights • Modified roofing • Hot Work- Heat welding, open flames and sparks • Repairs and retrofit Certificates, Licences, Memberships, and Courses: • First Aid (Level 1 and Level 3 an asset) • Fall Arrest Protection and Safety Training Course Skills: • Proven experience as a roof shingler or in a related roofing role • Strong knowledge of roofing materials, installation techniques, and safety procedures • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions • Physical fitness and strength to handle roofing materials and equipment • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in shingle installation • Good communication and teamwork skills • Familiarity with local building codes and regulations related to roofing • Sound knowledge and operation of hand power tools, tampers, measuring equipment and instruments • Sound knowledge of safe work procedures Personal suitability • Excellent oral communication • Reliability • Dependability • Works well in individually as well as in a team/ partner setting • Team player Work site environment • At heights • Noisy • Outdoors Work conditions and physical capabilities • Physically demanding • Bending, crouching, kneeling • Hand-eye co-ordination • Handling heavy loads • Repetitive tasks • Attention to detail • Fast passed environment • Ability to lift minimum 50 lbs to max 100 lbs Work setting • Various locations • Work is outdoors in various weather conditions • Commercial • Residential Flexible Language Requirement: • English preferred • French not required Own tools/equipment •Hard hat •Safety glasses/goggles •Safety harness •Gloves •Steeled toed safety boots •Transportation/travel information •Own vehicle •Valid driver's licence Job Types: • Full-time • Overtime • Permanent Compensation: • $25.00-40.00 per hour (based on experience) Schedule: • 8-12 hour shifts (Weekdays) • Some weekends • Overtime COVID-19 considerations: • None Experience: • roofing: 3 year (preferred)
