Responsibilities: Support individuals during program activities, encouraging increased independence and inclusion in the community. Provide emotional support and life skills training through a variety of programmed activities in the community. Skills and abilities: The successful candidate has: • An interest in supporting adults with developmental disabilities to participate in community based activities • Effective interpersonal and communication skills and good time and general management skills. • An interest in supporting adults to communicate using augmentative communication •Experience and knowledge of supporting clients with challenging behaviours Preferred Qualifications: • A diploma in human services or a related field and/or relevant experience. • One year relevant experience within the social service sector. • Experience and knowledge of community based programming • Experience and knowledge of supporting client behavior through positive support interventions. • First Aid and CPR required. • Must have a full Class 5 driving license. Permanent positions, 24hr, 30hr, 35 hours/week. (4 or 5 days per week) Monday to Friday between hours of 8.30 to 4pm. Closed evenings, weekends and all Stat holidays. Casual positions also available (able to work 3 days per week on average). Extra shifts may also be available for those wanting to work in our Residential program. Pay: From $21.63 per hour, with increases for hours worked as per Union Collective Agreement Union position. Benefits after 3 months (Extended health, dental, LTD, pension) for permanent positions. 3 weeks paid vacation to start and sick-day accrual for permanent positions.
