Dawson Heights is looking for an experienced Housekeeper who enjoys working with seniors. This position is a full-time, temporary position to start, in order to cover a period of medical leave. It may have the potential of leading to a more permanent position. This is a full time position - Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : 1. Carries out aspects of routine and rotation cleaning throughout the campus. 2. Weekly housekeeping duties provided to residents of The Cedars which includes but is not limited to the following: - Thorough cleaning of the kitchenette and bathrooms, including washing floors; - Changing beds and linens - Dusting, vacuuming and sweeping of the general traffic areas of apartments - Spot washing of mirrors, walls and doors as required 3. Keeps equipment clean and safely stored. 4. Report defective and damaged equipment and furnishings. 5. Assures that work areas are in an orderly, safe and clean condition. 6. Keeps inventory in order on housekeeping carts 7. Practices and maintains established standards for proper cleanliness and sanitation required by the Health Department and Dawson Heights Housing Ltd. 8. Maintains positive communications and relationship among staff and residents. 9. From time to time and in unusual circumstances the employee may be asked to perform other related duties. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 1. Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent education. 2. A minimum of three years experience of housekeeping in private or public (i.e. hotels) institutions 3. Satisfactorily pass a Criminal Record Check 4. WHMIS an advantage but not required SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1. Good communication skills, demonstrating tact, diplomacy, empathy, patience and concern in providing quality service. 2. A working knowledge of the English language. 3. Understands the application of cleaning chemicals. 4. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
