I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Laur, and I’m Mom to three amazing kids Aiden, Violet, and Leo; with our dog Vader rounding out our family. Each of my resilient children has their own unique special needs and are adored by all who come across them. For the last two years we have been without a home, due to circumstances beyond our control. We have been moving from women’s shelter to women’s shelter, and motels across the Island and Lower Mainland. January 2022 after a Go Fund Me effort I purchased an RV that had a devastating fire caused by faulty power coming from the pad we were renting just days after moving in. We recently were featured in a story by Chek 6 News (see link below). While we have faced many challenges we have remained hopeful, and moved through life with fervour. Just recently I achieved a long time goal, I am now a registered 1st year apprentice Pipe/Steamfitter with UA324 here on Vancouver Island. A job which not only is stable but comes with a great wage. We are community conscious and strive to leave the world better than we found it. Our ideal situation would be to rent a home where we could grow food, and put down roots. A cooperative effort that builds home-fullness and lasting relationships. We would need 2-3 bedrooms, in a somewhat quiet area. OR a place for us to park and hook up our RV we would need power, water, sewer and wifi. Vader our goofy and gallant canine, comes with his own references. His favourite pastimes are sleeping, being afraid of his own farts, and trying to steal your heart. Vader is fixed, and goes everywhere we go, he is not a nuisance barker, and is also great with kids. Vader is who alerted me to the fire, and is our hero, we would not be alive without him. Seriously. Currently our budget is 2000-2700, and if utilities were included that would be swell. Prefer Cowichan Valley, or lower Island/Gulf Islands.
