Casually seeing if there in anyone interested in riding or leasing my horse, starting this spring. Located in Sooke / saseenos on private property. This is a long post but I want to be very clear about what our situation is, what my horse needs, and what I am looking for, to ensure that this would work out for everyone involved. My horse is a 16hh, solid built, 1/2 Andalusian gelding. He's a really fun horse with loads of personality. I used to show him English, and he was always in the ribbons as he's super flashy. However, I had a kid and he hasn't been in regular work since then. For the past 6 years he's been a pet that goes on very occasional hacks around the yard. It's now time to change that. My kid is in school now, so starting this spring I will have a bit of free time to ride him, but not often enough to really get him in shape (especially because I need to get back in shape myself). I am looking for someone who is interested in riding him regularly. I'd like him to get in shape again and keep fit from now on. Leaser would need to be experienced, knowledgeable, and patient, in order to slowly build his fitness without overdoing it. You would need to take weekly or bi-weekly lessons on him to make sure things go smoothly as he gets used to being back in work again (with coach of your choosing upon my approval). I can suggest 2 coaches that have worked with him in the past, though I am not sure if either of them currently travel to Sooke to teach. Id like you to commit to 2 days per week, with the possibility of more once he starts getting in shape and if you are taking weekly lessons. Showing could be a possibility as well. Ideally I'd prefer someone who is interested in riding him long term. I don't have a riding ring, but there are 2 within a few minutes walk - one is at an established stable with several on-site coaches. The other is on private property and available for rent to hack and for lessons with your own coach. There is also access to the galloping Goose trail, and I'd like to be able to join you for trail rides (we have a 2nd horse I can ride on trails). I am not looking to be paid for a lease. But you must have hcbc, and would be responsible for paying for the ring rental and lesson costs. Must help out by picking the paddock on your ride days. And bonus points if you have some spare time once in a while to groom our senior horse (his paddock mate). He has English tack and other equipment to use. He also has a western saddle for trail riding but he isn't trained western. He is my heart horse and I want to make sure any potential rider will be a good fit for him. Hoping to find someone who wants to start riding this spring, but would be willing to do a few groundwork lessons with their own coach beforehand to make sure horse and rider connect and are a good match for one another. He doesn't rear or bolt. Has done minor bucks in the past but only when he's extremely stressed or being pushed too hard. He can be sensitive and likes to have a good connection/bond with his riders to establish trust. If this is something that interests you, please contact me. I'm not in a rush and am going to take the time to find the best fit possible.
