Support Worker

Home Share Provider Wanted Contract Position, $26.54 per hour Community Living Victoria (CLV) Experienced and reliable candidate to share their home with man in his early 20’s with Autism. Location of your home is less important, he would prefer Esquimalt/ Victoria area. He participates in Community Inclusion program Mon-Fri. Receives significant respite services most evenings & 1 day on weekends. No special dietary requirements. Fairly independent (requiring supervision only) sleeps well, is verbal, high functioning. Well supported with behavioral plan in place, funded for respite, supports. Loves everything outside and is very active; loves nature, hikes, biking, various water activities. Loves music, plays it a lot (can be a bit loud), enjoys playing on his computer. Delightful, engaging, functions well but needs a firm person, good boundaries and a calm but firm demeaner to help him stay regulated and manage behaviour. Needs to stay busy and needs direction/oversight but has no physical or other limitations. Could do well with other children and has, but seeks attention and struggles with sharing at times. Challenges: Anxious, can be loud if not properly supported, such behaviours can arise that need to be managed so they don’t escalate. Very busy individual, respite support and lots of activity helps manage that for homeshare! Family/current team can provide training, support and resources. The successful candidate will understand the principles of Community Living and be open to working collaboratively as part of this Individual’s support network. The applicant must be: - self-directed and reliable - be health conscious and in good health - a Class 5 licence an asset - previous related experience - obtain First Aid/CPR certification/re-certification - willing to consent to a Criminal Record Check - creative, flexible, friendly, and able to establish trust - good boundaries and self regulation Please apply even if INTEREST outweighs experience.
